Bronte
(was where I lived before moving to New York, I kinda miss the place though if I left New York at the moment I would miss it a whole lot more. I figure I'll be back to Sydney one day though I've got no idea when, can just say I feel very fortunate to have lived there for the time I did.)

The Australian Government Says Sorry To It's Stolen Generation

Today's front page of The New York Times
(click to enlarge, article here )

From the late 1800s up until 1970, the Australian government had a policy of forcibly removing Aboriginal children(in numbers over 100 000) from their families and placing them in orphanages, institutions or foster care of white families, expecting over time that Australia's indigenous race would be bred out.

The Previous Howard government had steadfastly refused to issue a formal apology. The Parliament of Australia under the leadership of new prime minister Kevin Rudd has just done so.

Hell's Gate Bridge

Hell's Gate Bridge , which carries rail traffic, was completed in 1918, and spans 310 metres, certainly draws comparison with The Sydney Harbour Bridge which was completed in 1932 and spans 503 metres.
