Weekend

I have a four day weekend, total luxury. Dlist party at the bana on Saturday night, some tinkering with the furniture configuration at home, walking 'bout Manhattan, taking it easy, catching up on some sleep,some yoga to be done, some online banter I'm sure, visit to a gallery, all very nice.

The Good Die Young

Anna Nicole Mystery- WAS IT MURDER? ran the headline in The New York Post. The Daily News ran with the headline SCANDLE IN THE WIND. AMNY'S headline was TRAGIC BEAUTY . The New York Times however, (who only report the news without predjuice or opinion) simply stated in a headline on page 12 Anna Nicole Smith Is Found Dead at a Florida Hotel. The Article called her (amongst other things), an actress.

The Battle of Algiers

The battle of Algiers (1966), recently screened at MoMA, concerns itself with the indigenous Algerian insurgency against the then French occupiers of Algeria. Terrorists(though not suicide) dress in western clothes (like the 9/11 hijackers) to place bombs, and believe strict morals(anti western) are the correct ways to live. Algiers became partitioned (like Palestine), the French commander says 'you are either with us or against us', the French employ torture to extract information and the U.N. can't do anything but pass resolutions condemning the fighting. It all sounds too familiar.
I thought it an excellent movie.
