The Things You Do on Your Holidays

The beforeThe interim
The finished product

Anyway..........
am in the middle of two weeks holiday, the first weeks seems to have disappeared already, Christmas demanded attention as usual, would of been happy to of sat the whole thing out as I was so busy workwise in the preceding weeks that I just wanted to stay at home and have a bit of toast but was asked to to a dinner on Christmas night and felt compelled by convention to attend and so I did. It was indeed a jovial evening where traditional Anglo fare was served and various alcoholic bevvies were offered, I stuck with the Aussie red all night, it was a cheeky drop I must say, but I held my own till the end, in good Aussie style. So now Hogmanay's on it's way, I think I'll have to get out there amongst it with the other punters somewhere............

Meme

Another meme thing is quite popular at the mo.....

1. When you were born, how much did you weigh?
Was born at 4 in the afternoon and weighed over 8lb

2. What's you're sugar poison?
probably chocolate

3. If you had to choose between meat and cheese for the rest of your life, which would you choose? Then be specific.
I'd be a cheese man, goat and sheep, fetas and manchego

4. What, in your opinion, is the worst song ever?
That is a tough one, I will happily sign along to any old ditty, but there are a lot of songs about at the moment signing praise to deities of some dualistic theology that I have had just about enough of!

5. Who was your favorite teacher growing up and why?
It's all forgotten about, thankfully

6. What personal activity, when performed in public, bothers you the most?
I'm a pretty tolerant fellow

7. Ok, there's a $50 bill lying on the ground. You pick it up. Dumbfounded by your incredible luck, what do you selfishly purchase?
some glossy book from amazon.com

8. Do you have a recurring nightmare? If so, explain.
I don't

9. Name one place on Earth you've never been, but vow to visit at least once.
Barcelona

10. You notice that question #9 wasn't really a question. You feel smart for catching such a small detail. What else can you do really well that reminds you how smart you are?
Hmmmmmmmmmm?
Well, I think I am quite perceptive!

Bridge Traffic

Traffic on the Queensboro bridge was rather thick today, so I took some photos

More Smoke

Am not obsessed with such events but......
Today there was a very, very loud blast, then lots of smoke, fire trucks duly came and blocked off the street

The fireman watched from afar, (top of the yellow building on the left)

closer view.

Later a Con Edison truck arrived, I guess it must of been one of those steam blasts?

East River, Today

There's comfort in melancholy
When there's no need to explain
It's just as natural as the weather
In this moody sky today

(from Joni Mitchell's Hejira )

Today was just like that.

Jersey

People queuing at the Mangnolia Bakery, why people queue to buy products made with bleached and bromated flour, refined cane sugar, or perhaps even that American classic, high fructose corn syrup, I have no idea.
